IF YOU have ever stared at a video display unit for hours on end, you probably know the kind of problems prolonged usage can cause - blurred vision, itchy eyes and headaches.
Vision Screener is a Windows-based software package developed by optometrists to diagnose VDU-related eye problems through a number of tests. These tests, some of which involve 3D glasses, evaluate areas such as visual acuity, eye co-ordination, muscle balance, stereopsis and visual field.
The tests take between 10 and 15 minutes to complete, after which the software generates a number of reports. These reports vary in content depending on whether they are compiled for you, your employer or your optometrist.
Vision Screener will also provide recommendations in regard to posture, workplace set-up and how to rectify some of your problems.
As the tests are conducted in the user's workplace, they are regarded as more accurate than tests conducted at optometrist's consulting rooms.
A Vision Screener 50-user licence for business costs $850, plus 15 per cent per annum; while a school licence to test up to 200 students costs $650. For more information, telephone Learning In Focus Enterprises on (02)5552206.
